We ALL battle something. I thought today was about MY battle. I WAS WRONG. It was about the small platoon I passed carrying a banner of their lost buddy, it was about Team Boston Strong who flew in from Boston last night (on the anniversary of the Marathon bombings), it was about the young man carrying a 911 flag of the deceased, and it was about the two moms wearing shirts to remember their lost sons. I cried when I crossed the finish line. Ya…I was actually proud of my worst time ever, but my tears? Because the exact moment I crossed the line, Pat Tillman’s* father and nephew crossed with me. Today….THEIR battle inspired 30,000 runners.
Their triumph? Pat continues to inspire others to never stop believing.
My triumph? Life lessons.
Love life…..embrace your battle in their reflection.
*Pat Tillman was a NFL player who left to join the Army, because of the 9/11 attacks, and was killed in Afghanistan.
