Definitely some sort of wood, I reckon, and its well worn, but I guess by the action of dust and sand, rather than the driftwood we get on the beach 🙂
Donna, this would make a perfect photo for the wordpress weekly photo challenge, textures, I can just feel the smoothness of the wood from the photo!! 🙂

Thank you. The first guess is always driftwood even by visitors to my home. I did, indeed, put it in textures and I just updated info about it’s life as a cactus. Thanks for playing along. Enjoy your day.

I’ve just read your fascinating cactus post Donna, I’m amazed at the size of them!! And their skeletons are incredible too. I’m pleased to hear that it’s illegal to remove any part of the cactus, they fit perfectly in the desert, and that’s where they should stay 🙂

i googles cacti skeleton and the results were amazing. nice entry for the challenge and i learned about a natural art piece 🙂
