Row, row, row your boat,

Underneath the sea,

Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha,

I’m a Submarine.

I cannot take credit for the updated version of the song, but I can take credit for teaching my children this version when they were young.  It was our version, our prerogative.

This was our life.

The Submarine community of the US Navy is unique, carrying a camaraderie that cannot be explained.  Crew is family, family is crew and all we know is we are in it together…while walking alone.

Luckily, walks on the beach, watching the waves roll in, give us a minute to believe we are a little closer. fullsizeoutput_2026

And there is always a glimmer of hope that messages in the sand might find their way exactly where they belong. fullsizeoutput_37b9

Homecomings come months later and are filled with perfume clouds, happy tears, rows of signs, and “do I still know you?”

And through it all, what resonates the most in my heart is: fullsizeoutput_37b6

NEVER be afraid to share your journey, but ALWAYS know how to row your own boat.
