Waterpocket Fold of Capitol Reef is a geological landform that extends for 100 miles.
This wrinkle in the earth’s surface is a classic monocline, a fold, that in this case is about 7000 feet higher in the west than the east. To me, standing at the base, appeared to be incoming waves. Eerie to think it might be what a tsunami might look like as it approaches.

The hike up Strike Valley Overlook took us over the mesa to a most infinite view.




And on the walk back, a reminder of this beautiful place we all call home.
