Have you ever thought about how you can really only take one step at a time?

What does that even mean?

One step? No one even has the power to walk two steps together.  That’s hopping for those of you who might call me out.

In some ways, one step is a bit like a photograph, isn’t it?   It is a chance to experience that exact moment, or step, in time. It is about how we allow our feet to take us where we need to go, and embed those memories in our hearts and sometimes…our cameras.

Honestly , If I had my way, I would be barefoot on the beach everyday.  Unfortunately,  barefeet are not always conducive to the situation at hand, even if that is subject to interpretation. And while I don’t always care about appropriateness, shoes do become the go to item most days.

After all, aren’t shoes the quickest way for women to achieve metamorphosis?

My granddaughter feels the same way about ballet shoes in a dance studio.

Whatever it is, be prepared. Someday you might find yourself someplace between raising hell and amazing grace. (Oatman, Arizona)

And there is little doubt, shoes can even be great for character building. (Fiery Furnace, Arches National Park)

Frankly, I love our team effort at local road races.

On a more somber note, there’s a lot you can tell about a person by their shoes. Every boot that lines the walkway at the 9/11 Memorial in Arizona, represents someone we lost.

Remember? Yes.

And at the end of the day, be reminded, we should still be singing Baby Sharks to our kids…

And taking time to sit back, relax and enjoy this step…in time.
