My iPhone has been my go to camera these days as I need something to fit in my pocket.
This month I am joining Brian with The Last Photo of November.
I just happened to be hiking with my grandkids that day. At first glance the photo appears to be just a dry wash.
A closer look, and the reason behind the photo, shows a man we had passed on the trail a half hour earlier, while we were having a snack.
He had a grand camera, and I can’t help but wonder what his last photo was.
Wind Kisses, Donna

I see him, Donna. 🙂 Sunday we drove up to and past Tortilla Flat. The country there is quite something.

It really is. It is so vast, and so much natural architecture, so to speak. The lake is just extra. It has been awhile since I have been over there. I am sure the evidence of the fire is devastating. Was Tortilla Flat open? I heard that was closed for a bit, and didn’t know if it was because of covid or fires. Donna

The road past Tortilla Flat is open for about 9 miles but that’s it. We drove to the end of the paved part and turned around, although I know the van would have no problem. It’s been on much worse roads. I’ve seen photos of the road and it looks quite something!

WE have been all the way through, but it has been awhile. A few sketchy areas, but not sure we could get passed them now. It is quite a nice drive.

I love a Last Photo landscape and when it has those Saguaro? cacti. It took a sec to find him. Thanks for joining in Donna 🙂 🙂

I am glad you do like being part of my challenge Donna. Yes life does make me do other than what I want at times 🙂

Wow, the sky is so blue and I think he might have been lost, Donna!

hahaha. No. I talked with him for a bit. He had a large camera and was taking some quiet time for himself. (we probably scared him off) The grandkids and I were “hunting for burros” and making enough noice to scare everything away. lol. We had a great time, a great hike, and we still saw 3 burros, 2 javelin, and 2 roadrunners (one crossing the road, which they loved) .

How hard of a hike was it? The path looks nice and wide.

The hike is easy to moderate, with some ledges if you are afraid of heights. The photo shows the wash area. Not necessarily a trail for the kids. I like to be on busier trails with them.

I’m not super on ledges. Not scared to death like my sister-in-law, but not one to tempt fate and my general awkwardness. 🙂

I was a little nervous with the kids, and grateful my 3 year old grandson went to school. I had images of him leaping off because it looked fun. ug.

I would be scared spitless with kids, especially a three-year-old!
I climbed a foothill with a five-year-old once, and we got stuck on the top. Left behind by her 10 year-old-brother, my friend and her ten-year-old granddaughter.
The way down was much to trecherous to go back the way we had come because I’d been lifting her from ledge to ledge, thinking that the way down on the other side was just a path. It was, but only you jumped over a ravine that I knew I could not make let alone her. I asked her while we sat at the top how her mother felt about her climbing the mountain.
She replied, “Oh Mom doesn’t know I’m gone. I climbed through a window in my room. I have strep throat.”
Amazingly we are both alive today.

Hahaha. I’m sure it wasn’t funny at the time. Horrific! But it’s a great laugh now. That’s a story you tell HER kids.

Lol. Last I saw her she wasn’t married, but is teaching.

You should see if you could find a way (an address) to send her a holiday card through the mail. She’d love it. Tell her the memory.

Good idea. The family won’t forget the memory. They renamed the foothill “Marsha’s Mountain.”

Beautifully captured, Donna. I love how the trail leads to to the blue sky.

Thank you Amy. I often forget how blue the sky is here. It does appear he is walking towards the sky.
