We were at Alamo Lake in Arizona, camping. I would like to add …this beautiful fire was made by yours truly while delicious fish tacos were prepared by that guy I always talk about.

This next photo was taken with my Nikkon D90 and zoom lens. I saw movement on the far hillside to discover it was a woman walking her dogs. It was an amazing view. I can only imagine hers.

A great end to January: Arizona, fish tacos and a campfire. Having had some recent experience with building fires, I know it’s not as easy as one might think. Making a good steady fire outside must be even harder than with our living room fireplace.

I don’t know about that. We had a light wind and very dry wood. But yes, usually takes me some time. It is fun, kind of a project, isn’t it? Yes. We love January in Arizona. Thanks, for stopping in. Glad to see your travels again, even if new trips are still challenging. Donna

All those views are good, Donna. I miss having a fire here. When we lived in Ohio, we put a wood-burning stove into our fireplace and what a joy that was! In all the years we lived there, we never bought any wood. I scrounged found wood from everywhere. The city workers who took down trees when needed started call me “the tree lady.” That stove made an enormous difference in our heat levels and our heating costs!

I love that you are the tree lady. We had a wood stove in Oregon and it was our only heat source. My husband was deployed at the time and while I too gathered wood. I loved chopping it too. It was great exercise, and a great stress relief.
Nothing like a warm fire, no matter where we are.
