“If the earth were only a few feet in diameter, floating a few feet above a field somewhere, people would come from everywhere to marvel at it.”
That would be too easy.
So we travel.
Some want to experience other cultures, others enjoy time away, and for some it is just wanderlust and adventure. It is different for everyone.
Today, I think of the warm sun, the earth under my feet, the fresh ocean air, and water. These elements (fire, earth, wind, and water), essential to our being, exist in harmonious balance, don’t they? Funny to think we often try to do the same as we walk through life…and when we travel.

And when we do, we realize how tiny we are in this big world

We can also appreciate the impact of a brutal sun, wind and rain, and how it transforms rocks into the most unique architecture. And if it is geology or history you seek, you are in the right place.

Have you ever thought about the the importance of the sun’s direction and your proximity to water? To some, it is a matter of life and death.

And to some it is a spiritual place. I promise…there will always be things that take your breath away.

And other things to light your way.

Note to Self…Travel.

Love all these, Donna, and can’t wait to see Mesa Verde again after many, many, many years. Raising my glass of red to you tonight. Off to California on Thursday for a baby shower in honor of first grandchild-to-be and a much needed break from taking care of parents. 🙂

Oh…everything happy. The shower will be great fun I am sure. Yes… you are so deserving of a glass of red, and a breath of fresh air in CA. Have fun.

In-CRED-ible, Donna, the chocolate Falls! Wowee, you hit a home run amidst the earth’s elements! My daughters visited Mesa Verde when they were young, I still want to go. The Fiery Furnace looks so much like areas of Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. Thanks for the links to each place, I’m off to check these out!

I was just telling my husband you have mentioned Valley of Fire a few times. You get me more excited, as we weren’t really sure what we were going to see. We just love to be out and about and figured it was a good spot (that we haven’t been too yet).

It has a cool, short slot canyon that reminds me of Antelope canyon. VOF is well worth the trip.

The first time we went, I didn’t even know how to describe it. Never seen anything like it. And to here it is holy ground, AND only runs with the rain, makes it special. Now we watch the water flow from cities up stream, and try to take a trip once a year for people who having been before. It is amazing. Thanks for stopping in. Donna

hey donna – the isa verde park is wonderful and I liked your thoughts on travel
–
quick question – the footprints in the sand seemed unusual because the footprints were raised?? usually there deep inside from pressure – was wondering why those were raised?

It is so funny you noticed that. That’s why I took the photo. Aside from it being a brilliant day, and quiet beach. It was interesting. I guess I am an angel floating above the sand. Lol
It was fairly hard packed, so I think the sand shifted with my steps rather then sunk down.
Funny you noticed.
Thank you.

It was interesting to walk in the footsteps of ancient people. We all talked about how quickly they could made it up the side of the cliff edges, and we wondered who watched the little toddlers. Lots of streep edge. Such a fun trip.
Chocolate falls is stunning. WE try to go once a year when it is running. I would love to go once when it isn’t running to explore the area and then maybe time it one time to arrive as the flow begins. Thanks for stopping by. Donna

I enjoyed viewing these photos, Donna.
They brought back memories of when we traveled out west.
The terrain is very different from my green green Florida.
Great post … Isadora 😎

Thank you Isadora. Yes. Very different. We also enjoy your lush and tropical feel to the landscape. I think what is beautiful about our country is all the diversity.
Always something new/ different to explore.
