What’s in your junk drawer?
We all have them. It is a place for those, we will need it someday items, or those tiny odds and ends, like paper clips, or rubber bands.
Junk drawers are everywhere in my house. Our new camper just got a new one to combat stuff, and I have a planter in my yard to collect such items.

It is the same thing with photos, isn’t it? We keep them for the someday.
We take random pictures because they were cool at the moment, then set them aside. Later, we think they will never be used, and keep them for the same reason we took them. We like them.
And there they sit…in the junk drawer.
A few years ago, I created a Maybe Album on my computer. It consists of photos that I will probably never use with hopes that maybe they will inspire a thought/ a blog post someday.
I guess today is that day. That day to remember the best thing about them, is the memory for that exact moment in time.
Welcome to my junk drawer.
This photo is out of focus and a reminder of a fun afternoon with my granddaughter getting ready for tea at The English Rose Tea Room in Carefree, AZ. Their hat room is fun for every age.

Of course there is cuteness at the Phoenix Zoo.

And art. Have you ever found that random art sculpture, you don’t want to afford? Cave Creek is notorious for that.

One thing I have made a habit of doing over the years is having a sign or message to carry with me when we wander about. I use it to enhance a view or sometimes just for fun.

It’s all good fun, isn’t it?

To paraphrase: one person’s junk is another person’s security blanket. 🙂 I’m discovering all sorts of “stuff” as I gradually go through Mom’s things at the house. She was a saver and an organizer so not only did she have stuff but she had lots in small spaces. 🙂 I’m finding boxed food items from as long ago as 2016 and of course even though they’re probably all okay to eat (even if not top level anymore), you can’t even donate things that are out of date. Two moves helped my get rid of lots of stuff, but I still have some. I tend to have paper stuff and I have LOTS of digital photo stuff!! Books are/were my biggest stuff temptation and although I did seriously downsize before moving each time, it was a struggle. Books stuck to my fingers as I tried to put them in the donate/take to Half Price Books stacks. If what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, getting rid of books made me a world-class strength pro. 🙂
I love the hats! I love tea also and have lots of both tea and hats.

Hahaha. Ya.. stronger indeed. I keep thinking of going through my moms house too, and everything she kept. I figured at this point in my life if I haven’t used it in more than 10 years and my kids don’t want it, it’s out. Tough though. Ive been taking books to the little neighborhood library near a playground. I figure both parents and kids will benefit from my collection.

I love those little libraries! I could have stocked all of them in the entire city of Naperville before we moved here. 🙂

Oh you are so right about our photography virtual junk drawer, Donna. How about the actual physical photos laying in random shoeboxes somewhere? Sigh. I love your random shots and especially your word sign you take places with you! A fabulous idea as we prepare to travel to Leavenworth in CEntral WA next month. Now to think, and fine a word–checking out Hobby Lobby soon! BTW, you looked great in your group pic with Marsha and John!!

Thanks Terri. Yes, hobby lobby would probably have the perfect sign for you. It’s been fun to collect signs along the way, and according to my mood.
Leavenworth is fun . You’ll like it.
I laughed so hard at the “shoebox” truth. I have just renovated my office space, and one of the jobs was to consolidate those boxes. So your comment was truer than you know. It will need to be done again, but for now they fit nicely in the top of a cabinet.
I love my new space !
Thanks for your note. I truly look forward to the day we can meet. Donna

Junk is my middle name. Sometimes I think I can make order of chaos. It never stays organized very long! Thanks again for meeting yesterday. It was great fun.

Loved all the hats…and the idea of carrying a sign or message everywhere. I will remember that! And I agree with terri – you looked just great in that photo. ♥

Thank you.
Yes. Signs are fun. For this trip I am currently on, I brought some Irish decor. Sadly, we just arrived to Valley of the Fire yesterday , and will have to return home tomorrow. My husband hurt his back. ( just grateful he is ok, AND I know how to pack up camp and hook up the Jeep for transport.)
Thanks again. Donna

Oh, glad to hear you are managing the situation – and hopefully your husband will mend soon. Unfortunately my husband has now got great problems with walking, sitting and everything, an x-ray will hopefully show why. Disc herniation in more than one place they think…

So where do you get the little sighs from?
I love the idea so
Much–
Also – we got rid of our junk drawer once and I missed it – because it had a purpose as a catch all
So now we keep our junk drawer but we clean it out yearly – or try to

Hopefully my new office space will keep my stuff organized. I will always have a junk drawer in the kitchen though. Everyone looks there first too, including me.
The signs are usually something I run across, and friends look for them for me. My daughter found the love life . We have a store called At Home that I have found a few. Hobby Lobby has anything you can imagine.
Even favorite coffee cups with messages work.
Thanks again. I’m going to look forward to your planning a trip out here.
