Two of my favorite wildflowers together, Donna! We get loads of lupine here in our alpine/high desert, sometime in June. No wild poppies though.

Yes, nature doesn’t really need our so called help. When I see your photo, I really long for spring and anemonae in the woods.
I love lupines. I even planted them in my garden. My neighbours don’t understand it, they consider them weeds, I call them wildflowers. They mix with each other and create children with new colours (the lupines 😉 ). I have wild poppies too, but they are the reddish orange kind. The yellow ones on your photo they find it too cold in my garden. Here we call them Californian poppies or golden poppies.

Great minds think alike. I have an area in my landscape that mimics a wash. I toss lupine and desert bluebell seeds in it every year for a blue “river. I love it. No…not weeds in my book either.

That’s a great idea, the blue river!

As a Texan, I do love to see bluebonnets! Thank you for making my dry and dusty West Texas day a little brighter.

We will be heading your way in April. Will that be too late for bluebonnets? I have always wanted to see the fields of them. Thank you, and you are welcome.

Bluebonnets are particular about the weather. If the drought doesn’t keep them from coming up, they should be gorgeous in April, along with a lot of other wildflowers. I hope you’re going to Central Texas. That’s where you will see them best.
