You are the greatest project you will ever get to work on. Take your time.

Let’s just start this day right, shall we?

This week welcome guest host, Egidio of Through Brazilian Eyes, as he challenges us with, Recharge. His stunning photos, and words, reflect his phenomenal connection with the natural world. Don’t miss it. I kind of pondered his inspiration over coffee. It’s where I start every morning with my journal and reflections on the day to come.

And I wrote…Often the very things that stop us are the things that recharge us.

What do you think?

The sunrise comes to mind, and so does a raindrop following a recent rain. We all know the rise and set of the sun is nothing new, and rain is paramount for our forests and deserts, but can we just appreciate the power they have over our intrigue sometimes?

The tiniest weed in my garden, stops me too, but it seems more like an invitation than a job. My garden is a place where I decide what happens, and in return it is refreshingly honest. In this world taming us to put on a facade, a garden preaches authenticity. I can nurture, heal, create, contemplate, make mistakes, and walk away knowing it will be waiting when I return…with new ideas.

And walks? They are not all created equal, are they? There are the sweat-induced battles that rid us of stress, elevated blood pressure,  people in our space, and jiggly backsides. A little different than the meandering garden strolls above, or the hikes to wherever.Walks are usually the one, deliberate hour I promise myself everyday. The stop-everything-else hour for me…and sometimes…he.

Yes, nature is pretty instrumental in my quest to recharge. Do you know where your deep breath is? And do you recognize that minute when you feel it or see it. Last weekend, my granddaughter and I brought her table outside to paint. We talked of the hummingbirds, and her hopes of splashing in the pool a little later. She kept painting. She always wants to paint, and this time she was able to articulate a reflection of her true self. “Gramma I don’t want to make anything, I just want to paint.”

Stop. I smiled. She might not know what recharge means, but is this her way? And I am reminded of the importance of knowing yourself and finding your you in this road called life.

I repeat…You are the greatest project you will ever get to work on. Take your time.
