Shoooooees!
It was the first thing that came to mind when I read John’s challenge this week. In his post he showcases photographs of favorite ways to travel, journey or simply be, on the move.
If you are a toddler, on the move is your mantra. In fact, they are experts and define the concept with authority. Oh they stop…for snacks, an ant line, and friendly puppies, but rest assured, they are never done.
When I arrive at my daughter’s house, two year old Lainey runs from the shoe locker. Shoes in hand, she sits by the door, and waits until they are on her feet. She seems proud of them. I guess it might be because of the freedom and independence they allow her, or quite possibly because she knows I like to explore the neighborhood too.
Today she chases the pigeons in a grassy area nearby. Five minutes later she studies the acorns that conveniently fell into a crack in the sidewalk, all while zooming in unison with the F-16 that flew overhead.

We keep walking and I am reminded of that wow moment when a balloon floated by another time.

The light rain that came next made her laugh. We didn’t rush. In Arizona, falling rain is an anomaly and this was most likely a first for her. Someday she might enjoy barefoot splashes with her sister. For now she loves her shoes.

For me and my husband, rambling around roads less traveled in our Jeep is a favorite way to roll. With him behind the wheel and me in the passenger seat we search for trails, wildlife, waterfalls, and anything else to quench that insatiable curiosity.

In the Spring, the Jeep stayed home and a walk through Portugal and Spain was on our to do list. We explored every beach, every village, and every curiosity on the way. On the move was our everyday. Laundry not quite dry? We improvised.

Travel? Journeys? On the Move?
Whatever your vision, grab those aha moments and enjoy that journey.

Hmmm, maybe it is that toddler in us that sets the stage for that on the move mentality. What do you think?
Wind Kisses,
Donna

Oh my…she is adorable!

Thanks, Egidio. It was truly what flooded my mind for the week. And Bom Camino??? I can wait until you do it. I purposely didn’t say If. You would love it so much.

Boots are made for walking. It’s their essence to walk, isn’t it?
Let me proof this wrong next week with an image I took in Iceland last month. I schedule it for Thursday. Stay tuned😁

It looks like it. They are certainly darling at that age. Not that they aren’t at other ages, but toddlers are so curious and everything is new. The act of discovery is such a joy.

Donna, this is a lovely. I love the splashing of the water – all the toddler images. My youngest grandson is nearly year and a half and on the move all the waking time.

It is amazing. If we put a marker on their shoe, can you even imagine the map it would make. Not a single corner in the house untouched. And I love this stage.

What a lovely slant on this theme! Lainey looks very cute and I loved seeing her with that line of acorns as I can just remember how that would have fascinated me too as a child 😀 And your jeep travels in that wonderful scenery look and sound very special.

I was truly what was on my mind. Funny you said that about the acorns. I admit to loving that she loved it too. I can remember playing all sorts of things with acorns in the day. This has been a fun chapter in my life. A little different than a few years ago. But it goes quick. So quick. Thanks Sarah.

What a wonderful response to the challenge, Donna! You brought back memories of my own children at that age. It’s a shame that I didn’t get a fuller measure of that precious time, you know, work, career, and all.
Safe travels on your journeys!

Thank you John. It was a great challenge and I kept trying to think of all the ways we love to travel. And then Lainey happened to be at the right place at the right time to help my develop my thoughts . Thanks again.

You hit the nail on the head about Toddlers on the move! We have a 16 month old and he is constantly moving!
On the move in the desert is always fun as that is us as well.
I loved following your journey in Spain and Portugal! Incredible.
Now with my new hip, who knows where it will take me.
(Thanks for the text! All went well. Home the same day and walking on my own.🥰

hahaha. That’s funny. A great memory to picture. I think I drive my daughter crazy sharing all the memories triggered when I play with her girls. Lol. My prerogative, isn’t it?

What a wonderful take on the challenge, Donna! A child on the move – so much to explore, so much to learn! And here I am – sitting on the couch for hours and then wondering why my back hurts 😂..Lovely shots. The Jeep exploration sounds lovely..

lol. Ya the couch isn’t an option when she is around. lol. I think the little ones are great reminders to notice the little things in life too. Thanks for your note PR.

Donna, I love how you approached this challenge! Whether it’s adults or children we need shoes to move – unless we are jumping in a puddle! The photo of the child splashing in a puddle made me smile and remember when my kids and grandkids were little. The jeep adventures look like so much fun.

Thank you Beth. It was fun to have rain in our desert this week. As always we need it, and it is an instant science experiment for the kids. Yes, Jeeping is fun, and in fact we are taking a few of the older grands camping and exploring this weekend.

I makes me smile to think of you with the little ones Donna. I know you to be young at heart and I cannot imagine a better trait for a grandparent!! You are making amazing memories for both you and your grands to enjoy for years to come. And still you manage to fit in some marvelous travels. Good for you and your undoubtedly fabulous husband!

So often my travel shots turn out to be snapshots of here and there, I hardly ever see a story within them as a group. Here you used a challenge “On the move” to respond with using your photos (I dare not call your work SNAPSHOTS, but I really don’t mean to imply SNAPSHOTS are any less a part of my art than any I hang and show). I like how it feels. THANKS.
