We went to Coronado for the first time probably 35 years ago, and fell in love with it. It was one of those moments in life when it was just us. Funny to think I wasn’t sure we would ever go back. Life got in the way, moves took us around the world and it became a cherished memory.

A move to Arizona changed that.
We realized San Diego was close enough to become a beach getaway for us. It’s a bit of a drive…and worth it every, single, time. Our kids are grown now and life still dictates, work and school schedules, along with sports and activities of the grandkids. And we faithfully go back…without them. It is our chance to check out, take in the salty air and relax.
I guess it is ok, as it is our place.

That changed last week.
We all landed on Coronado together, and this time instead of just going back, everyone else wants to know when we are going back…next time.
My heart exploded. This is now the beginning of an annual event.
As soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen. – Pooh
And so it was…..

Days were spent digging, boogie boarding, playing ball, and building sand mermaids.

Nights were for going back in time with s’mores over an open fire.

Or just dancing to the music coming from the taco bar.

And for me, it was just a chance to bask in these moments that we will now share together…forever. Someday our youngest granddaughter will be writing her own story.
Today this is summer 2021.
You will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory. -Seuss

It is so great to see you back to blogging, Donna, and sharing your lovely photos of going back to Coronado, no less! San Diego is close enough to the Phoenix area and, like you say, worth the trip! Funny, many of our San Diego family have moved to areas of Phoenix, now only three of our grown kids live in San Diego. Coronado is a wonderful beach with so much to see and stays relatively fog-free during June-gloom.

Yes. We always have a great time.
I was so glad to see you have remained here. Always loved your inspiration, and the way you live such a deliberate life. Very cool you took time to see Marsha in Prescott. I was out of town or would have loved to see you. Looks like you had a busy schedule though. Another. time. With family down here. Maybe one of these days. Thanks again.

Thank you. Donna! If we’d had a few more days, I would have loved seeing you. My brother, too, over in Fountain Hiils…haven’t seen their new place yet. We hope to spend more time down that way after Christmas. Now you’re on my list! 😁

I see you have been back to blogging and WP must have unfollowed you for some reason (happening to many).

When I left and returned last time…lots of changes. I think I am still trying to figure everything out, and yet at the end of the day, I just enjoy being here and reconnecting with other fellow bloggers.

I like that Dr. S quote and I’m happy you were able to go to your happy place. I really enjoy the ocean but the mountains are my happy place. However, I’m looking forward to seeing the ocean in a week (and those lower temperatures.) 🙂

I am doing just the opposite of you. While you are on the ocean, I will be in the mountains. Heading to Shenendoah, Blue Ridge, and Smokeys.
Now… I know as well as you, those are not “real” mountains like in Wyoming and Montana, but mountains none the less and I can hardly wait.

I’d love to see those mountains one day as well or at least spend more time there. Safe travels and have fun. I know you will.

Yes. For me it is always about the gift of time. Thats what I want them to remember of me someday. That and the importance of laughter in life. Thank you Manja.

Coronado is a beautiful place, kind of everything one remembers of Sun and Summers San Diego.

I love the sand castles in Coronado. The last time we flew anywhere pre-COVID was to spend a few days there. Looks like you had a very nice time!

Yay! That makes me do a happy dance. THe first of October our family is going back to our favorite vacation spot together…it’s been since 2013 that everyone went…Which means our two daughters, hubby and I. This year we will all be there plus two grand kiddos and a friend of my youngest daughters. Sadly our son in law can’t join us, and the girls can only stay 4 1/2 days, but I’ll take what I Can get.
