What matters? What really matters?
It is usually the little things, isn’t it? It’s a cup of coffee, the peek of spring flowers, a phone call from a friend saying she is in town, and rain in the desert…for me anyway.
February reminded me we don’t always need a plan. There are times we need to go with it. Those of us who are creatures of habit, gasp at the thought of disrupting the order of the day. But…coffee stays hot in a Yeti, the wildflowers are temporary, and there is nothing like the laughter of raincoats and friends.
Go with it.

And if you open your eyes, you might find surprises along the way, like open windows with stories of the past. Or maybe the past without any story at all.

Sometimes you must give up the life you planned in order to have the life that is waiting for you. – Joseph Campbell.
But… if I did want to organize my thoughts…I might tell you February was full of brilliant color.

It started at Poppies, a make your own bouquet, shop. Note the recipe, and my arrangement included.

A trip to Sedona’s red rocks is definitely in order with visitors.

Flowers continue to taunt us with the promise of spring.

And Rotraut’s exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden taps into our creativity.

February in the Southwest can be quite amazing–at least it has color, Donna! I’ve been to those botanical gardens a few years ago–their featured sculptures were colorful plastic rabbits! Sedona always looks amazing. Nothing but green and white here still. We’re looking forward to seeing you’all in early April!

Yes, Rotraut does an amazing job at making us stop and try to interpret what we see. Most are not titled. She is French, and lives in Phoenix, so I think appreciates what she can do to to complement the desert landscape. She does a phenomenal job.

Lots of good stuff here, especially “open windows with stories of the past. Or maybe the past without any story at all. ” I love that. And those desert flowers, oh,so beautiful!

I like the line, “if you open your eyes”. We need to see with miracle eyes, the beauty that surrounds us, but are too busy to notice. Let’s keep looking!
